As you may know ignition coil packs have become a potential failure point on all 30,000 mile plus RX-8’s this has unfortunately led to engine failures attributed, 100% to the coils not powering the spark plugs properly.
If you would like to look at the smaller picture on the right you will see white burn marks evident, this indicates that the coils have broken down internally and that the power is finding earth via the base plate rather than full power travelling down the spark plug lead as it should be which leads to a multitude of different faults for the RX-8.
Unfortunately the coils have proven to be the Achilles heel of many RX-8’s even when the car appears to running O/K
There are four individual coils fitted to the engine. Coils can be bought separately or as a set of four.
With each full set of coils purchased, RBE will also make available a set of 8mm Magnecor silicon plug leads to help complete your ignition system upgrade at 30% less than the recommended price. See here
